Busy, Busy

Well, I have fallen off the blogging wagon, but will soon return with tons of new projects and adventures!! I have been super busy the past few months with starting my dental career and staying busy with the holidays. I did get a new laptop for Christmas from my santa-hunny, so that will help tons with blogging and uploading pictures, and I got a Cricut cake machine which should give me lots of creative opportunities. I am going to try and be better about keeping up with blogging and sharing my creations, so check back often!! I have a feeling 2012 is going to be an AWESOME & FUN year!!

ScRaPPy

Well I actually sewed a whole stinking blanket!! Yay!! With the help of Becky (my mom-in-law) I made a super cute scrappy quilt and LOVE IT!! I still can't believe i am learning to sew, and liking it!! It took about, I don't know, 16 hours or so and was so fun to make!.....

A First....

Ok this was my first real sewing project. I made some super cute Halloween pillows for my porch. I have never sewn before, so they aren't perfect but will do for now. I love all the orange and black, and it was so fun making them!! I am waiting on the hubby to take a "professional" picture of my porch, so you can see all the cuteness and the pumpkins & get the full spooky cute effect!

"Queen of Halloween..."

This was a super quick project I decided to test out. It turned out cuter than I thought it would, which makes me happy! I got a box of "sticks" at an estate sale last month and figured I could make all kinds of fun little projects with them.....

Love, Love, Love This!!

Okay, its finally here!! I am in love with this super adorable scrapbook collection!! Its from Graphic 45 and the two collections are "The Magic of Oz" & "Hallowe'en in Wonderland". Even the names make me excited. If you are into scrapbooking or just love the Wizard of Oz or Alice in Wonderland, these two packages are a must have!...

I was just curious...

Ok, so I have always wanted a fully loaded Kitchen-Aid mixer (<---that's a link) and one day, hopefully soon, I will get one. Seriously come on, who doesn't want a mixer that does everything but hug your kids. And all of the colors are so deliciously cute, I would have a hard time choosing!! I have a great Sunbeam mixer that was red & black (yes, when we first got married almost a decade ago, I wanted to do all red in the kitchen) and it gets the job done.....

Almost started without taking a before shot!

It's about time...

Fall is finally here, so that means its time to get started on the Halloween projects so I can transform my home into spooky cuteness the first weekend of October!! Yay, cannot wait!! I have a few projects I wanna get done this week and am starting with making some fun Spell & Potions books to go with the mantle decor I have in mind.....

Started with a regular hard back book...

Made My Own...

I recently got an awesome Paula Deen signature pot set from my Mom for my birthday & they are orange and oh so cute!! I didn't want to throw them in the cabinet and wanted to be able to look at them whenever i wanted and for others to see their cuteness too. So I decided to find a pot rack....

Garage Sell Junk...I Think Not

This was another one of the finds on the garage sell day. I think I got it for under $10 bucks, which was good I thought. It took a few weeks to 'decide' what I wanted to do with it, but I think the wait was worth it....

Poker Face

Well a few weeks ago I went garage/estate selling with my mother-in-law and we had a great time and found some cool stuff. I cannot wait for cooler weather and to go regularly for "crafty finds". This old remnant of a poker mirror, i guess for a game room, had some potential. The lady actually told us that we could just buy a mirror and replace it and it would be fixed. Haha, really like that would go in any normal person's decor?! I think not! Or at least not mine anyway ;o) .... So this is what I created....

A Little Bit of Yarn

I saw this idea a few days ago, and kind of turned it into my own. I took a frame, spray painted it black, wrapped yarn around it, used some Martha Stewart glitter for the corners & K....

Chalkboard'ing

I have some old canisters that I have used for about 7 years now. I thought they could use a little minor makeover. So, I taped off a square on each one and sprayed them with chalkboard paint. Then I cut out an accent design on my Cricut for the edging. They turned out cute. A nice change from the plain white they have been for so long......

What's For Dinner

We grill steaks once a week, and so I thought I might share my favorite way to marinate our steaks and my Mom's yummy fully loaded mashed potato bake recipe that I love making. It is super easy, and sooooo good!! Definitely try making the potatoes sometime, you will love them!!

Montreal, Applewood Rub, Cajun, & have to use brown sugar, it makes it spicy/sweet. Yum!

Barstool Makeover

I was given these awesome barstools, which work perfect with my lower bar. I decided to spice them up a bit with some flat black spray paint and some cute decorative knobs, so I can hang things on the back if needed & it just added a little bit more cuteness to them. Now to find some material and make cushions and they will be complete! Can't wait!!

Quick Canvas Painting

This was a quick canvas I painted to hang in my living room. I made this right after I got my Martha Stewart glitter collection, of course I couldn't wait to use it!!

Simple Use of an Old Frame

Saw this idea on Pinterest, but kinda made it my own. I used an old wooden frame and spray painted it black. Then I used my Cricut to cut out the vinyl to put on the glass. I also had to use my craft knife to cut the K in half and make the straight lines in the middle, that was probably the most difficult part was getting it all lined up and proportionate. I added a little Martha Stewart glitter (which I absolutely LOVE & love everything Martha has out) for the red, and that was it! Very easy and it turned out so cute! I put mine in the entry next to the front door (which i plan to paint black eventually). These would make great gifts for weddings and even new babies. I had so much fun making this, I am thinking about selling some on Etsy...what do you think?

Extra Bedroom Turned Movie Room!!

We decided since we spend most of our time watching movies and we love collecting them too, to use our extra bedroom as a "movie room". So we started by painting the whole thing, even the ceiling, dark blue. (The camera flash makes the room look bright, really its not.) Then my hubby made a secure set up out of wood to put in the window so we could hang our 55" Samsung LED TV......

Plain....for now

I have a pretty simple and plain white mantle with an awesome black glass tile look surrounding it that matches my kitchen. I have been really contemplating on painting my mantle black to give it pop and then painting the wall a creamy warm color to accent it, but haven't been brave enough to attempt to paint it! So in the mean time I just use my Cricut to cut out cute sayings and spice it up with that. Here are some pics of last year at Christmas and what it looks like this summer. And of course I have a super spooky cute makeover I am going to give my mantle next month!.......

One Fish, Two Fish...Brush Your Teeth

I love, love, love to paint!! Anything colorful and cute, and of course anything Dr. Seuss!! I think one day if we ever have a nursery, it will have to be Dr. Seuss themed some how. But anyways, this is a set of bathroom paintings I made for a friend at work. I just used acrylic and canvas, pretty simple and basic, but turned out super cute I think! ......

Oh the ideas are brewing...

I absolutely love my black front porch furniture! The creative designs are endless! I currently have it set up with red cushions and pillows, but the fall is near and I do have wonderful fall inspired creations that are brewing in my head. And I guess I forgot to mention, Halloween is my absolute favorite time of year!! And I do mean FaVoRiTe!! With that said you can bet there will be an orange & black spooky cuteness theme going on in the weeks to come, so be sure to look out for that. I CANNOT wait!!

Pillar Wall

I have this awesome pillar separating my dining and living rooms, and we found this clock at Hobby Lobby that works perfect! I just cut some cute little birds on my Cricut out of vinyl just for accent. And the picture collage in the background took a while, but i will upload a close up pic of it later.

Gonna Give This A Try

My very first blog post, yay!! I am not the best with words & never thought about blogging, but I decided with all of the crafts and projects I have been doing lately that I wanted to be able to share and have a place to keep up with them all.

The King Family
Well...I am Holly and am lucky enough to be married to my best friend, Andrew. And for now, we have 3 furbabies; Kalvin, Kadence, & Frank. We are the King Family, so I use a lot of K's and crowns in my decorating and figured it would make a good blog name. Super creative, I know. We have been in our new house for about 2 years now and we have done A LOT to make this home "our home", & i still continue to find new projects often.

So, in my blog I will upload projects I take on, as well as random things I love that give me inspiration whether it be crafts or just life. Also, I am starting to take on cooking. (For those of you who know me, it will probably give you a good laugh!) I have been married for 7 years and I am not the greatest cook, but I am starting to surprise myself. Hope you enjoy!
